This week Magento Connect introduced some great extensions that will allow you to diversify your content management practices, increase the security of your backend and boost your offline sales with a store locating extension.

Magento Connect Weekly

MiniOrange Two-Factor Admin Authentication

This is a very interesting Magento extension that allows you to dramatically increase the security of your Magento admin. The extension introduces a 2-step verification process to your backend login procedure, similar to the one offered by Google. Only in this case, instead of a one-time password, your admin will have to verify their identity through a QR code.

There are alternative login options, in case if your admin doesn't have an Internet connection on their phone or if they've lost their cell phone. Some other options include SMS verification and voice options for landlines.

As you can see - this is a pretty flexible admin security solution for any Magento store. It's definitely worth checking it out, especially since they have a 30-day trial period.

Store Locator

This simple Magento extension will be useful for online merchants that have offline locations. It offers great store locator functionality at an affordable price. Here are some of the functions you can offer to the users:

 Search stores by location and products. 

 Get Google Maps directions for various types of transportation - bicycles, public transportation, etc. 

 Popup Ajax form allows your clients to contact specific stores directly. 

 Your clients can find the nearest store, by giving access to their current location.

In this case, content type for Magento is a composite entity, which includes titles, descriptions, necessary checkboxes, visual editors, etc.

This extension also allows you to set a bunch of parameters for all of the content types - searchability, meta data, content correlations, etc. This functionality is great for stores and merchants that like to diversify their marketing and constantly experiment with new approaches and sales tactics.
