Admin Password Length Enforcer

What's the issue?

Your admin panel is home to tons of sensitive information—not something you want to expose to attackers easily. Unfortunately, if you have a lot of admin users, chances are at least some of them are picking insecure, easy to crack passwords. Insecure passwords are particularly vulnerable to brute force attacks, where attackers are able to guess hundreds of thousands of password combinations every hour.

How does this help?

The good news is that increasing password length greatly increases the time required to crack passwords using this method, and now you can leverage that knowledge in Magento. We just released an extension that allows you to customize the required length of admin passwords.

How do I use it?

  1. Copy the extension key here from Magento Connect
  2. Navigate to your the System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager menu in your admin panel.
  3. Paste the extension key into the appropriate box, click install, and confirm the installation!
  4. That's it! Navigate to System > Configuration and look for the "BranchLabs" header in the menu to the right and select "Admin Password Strength" to set the minimum password length
